I have 9 months left on my t-mobile contract and I’m content with their service. The problem is I want a phone that another carrier has that is not offered by t-mobile. Can I use my sim card with their phone if I purchase an unlocked phone of that type and still have the same service and regular cell phone functions that I have now.
Answered by onThesource(ONLY for reference)
Sure, the unlocked phone can work well with your pre-paid SIM card, but you should make sure the phone supports GSM900/1800/1900MHz which is required by the SIM card of T-Mobile.

I have an unlocked at&t tilt aka kaiser Htc tynn. My question concerns how do I get T-mobile software on and At&t software off?
I am trying to sell this phone and it’s confusing to potential buyers. From T-mobile when they place their sims in and it still shows at&t software it is unlocked because otherwise it would ask for PUK a code or message insert sim card.
I unlocked it myself when contract was up requested and received the PUK code used old t-mobile sim card. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks
Answered by onThesource(ONLY for reference)
That indicates the phone is not really unlocked, and it can not work suitably with pre-paid SIM cards.

We can not locate the concrete network frequency of US Cellular. We suggest you buy those UNLOCKED phones which support 850/1900 simultaneously, namely, quad band cell phones.

Cheap Unlocked Cell Phones: Switch Cell Phone Providers Without Losing Your Phone
Unlocked Cell Phones Cheap : Switch Cell Phone Providers lose your phone The concept of unlocked cell phones goes like this. Operators that operate on Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) as Cingular Wireless, AT & T Wireless and T-Mobile uses a Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) card. SIM is a microchip that stores subscriber data. It is a carrier and provides cell service by activating a phone that she enter.
A locked phone, as we used to, will only recognize a SIM card from a particular carrier. An unlocked cell phone, however, is recognized as a SIM card from any carrier. If this sounds like a novelty to you, it’s really not. In fact, in Asia, about 80% of mobile phones are sold unlocked. And in Europe, about 70% of mobile phones are sold independently of an operator. Only the United States from 90% to 95% of mobile phones is locked in a mobile service provider.
Why? Because the carriers subsidize the cost of the phones. Operators typically capture the value of the phone. It greatly expanded the market by making phones more affordable, but also it has given mobile operators complete control over the cell phones they sell or give away for free.
U.S. Cellular operators are slow to pick up some of Nokia Corp’s high-end N-series phone, offering a high mega pixel camera and a host of other features not found in many phones. This led to Nokia to open stores in Chicago and New York to sell their phones unlocked. Getting unlocked cell phone gives you a freedom to choose between different mobile phones and their features without being locked into a new one or two-year contract.
Buy unlocked cell phones will come back to buy cheap unlocked cell phones if you travel abroad. Then you can buy prepaid SIM cards are designed to operate in the country you are visiting. It is cheaper than making overseas calls via your mobile phone operator. You can find even more reliable service.

Problems in Buying Unlocked Cell Phone? Superb Tips to Purchase the Best
If you are keen on purchasing an unlocked mobile phone and don’t have any idea about what to do, here are some tips to help you purchase the best. Before getting on to the real tips, you need to understand that there are about hundreds of various types of phones and plans available in the market for unlocked cell phones. There are several extra offers with unlocked cell phones such as ring tones, games and even access to some special services. You may find some of these special services really attractive on the advertisements, but they may be quite expensive. It would not be a big surprise if you end up getting a whole in your pocket.
Hence, it is important to give a serious thought to the facilities available and the prices they are offered at prior to purchasing an unlocked mobile phone.
Purchasing Tips:
Work out a budget
It is extremely important to work out what you can afford. Remember that you need to pay up-front and a bill each month for your phone. Go for a budgeting schedule via discussing plans and offers with your service provider. This will help you a great deal to find out the best unlocked phone and plan for your specific requirements. You will also require to think about how often you will be using your phone. Also think about when you will use it and how long you would normally spend on your calls. Also consider whether you want to use it for calling, text messaging or both.
Plans
Once you prepare a budget, try to do a research on types of plans available with your unlocked cell phones. Usually, about four different types of service agreements are available for unlocked mobile users namely; fixed term contracts, prepaid plans, rental plans and monthly plans. A fixed term plan is for about a period of one to three years. Monthly plans let you have an account with a provider and billed on a monthly basis. You don’t require to sign for a fixed period of time.
Pre-paid account keeps tabs on the amount you spend. If you go for a rental plan, you need to pay monthly and use your phone for an unlimited amount.
Features
If you want to enjoy the best of features in an unlocked mobile phone, it is best to skip the one that does not have the following features:
a) Camera
b) Bluetooth
c) Speaker
d) Music
Make sure that the camera, speaker and Bluetooth options are free of cost.
Affordable plan
You need to understand that cheapest plans usually start at 40 per month and goes up from there.
Accessories and add-ons
Don’t go for accessories that are tagged hi-fi. Instead go for these that you really require. Make sure that these accessories are specifically designed for your phone.
Basic demonstration
Prior to purchasing the product finally, you should ask the dealer to provide you a basic demonstration. He should tell you how to use the voicemail feature, camera text messages or menus. You also need to ask what the dealers return policy is. You must always get an insurance for your phone.
Purchase your unlocked mobile phone wisely and you would cherish your final decision forever.
